Sausages make a fabulous weekday meal whether they're served on a freshly baked bun, sliced into sauces or stews, or served whole with a salad and rice, say. My favourite way to prepare sausage is on the barbecue, but at this time of year with the cold November rain falling, frankly I'd rather be inside. That's why I let my slow cooker do its thing all day, so I only have to do the barbecue thing for 5 minutes or so. In this super fast and easy recipe, your fav type of sausages (or go wild and choose pick various kinds) are slow cooked all day and then finished very quickly on the grill. The result? Moist, perfectly done sausages made pretty with lovely grill marks.
- 1 to 2 lbs of fresh sausages
- Liquid (water, broth, beer or wine -- whatever you have on hand or in hand!) to cover bottom of slow cooker about half an inch
Place sausages in bottom of slow cooker. Pour liquid over. Cover and cook 5 to 7 hours on LOW or about 4 hours on HIGH. Remove from slow cooker and place on hot, well oiled grill. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes turning once to achieve perfect grill marks!
